  3. Depends on the features, I don't vote on things without all the info!

So I have noticed a trend in recent games and soon to be released console games where a companion app is used for mobile devices.
    Some examples are:
GTA V you can get an app to train your dog.
Watch Dogs you can get an app to be a helpful hacker in a friends game.
The Division you can get an app to control a little drone thing that can mark and attack enemies.
Battlefield 4 you can get an app to play as the commander.

These games are very different than MMORPG's and personally I can't say that I like the idea of companion app's but since I hadn't seen any discussions about it yet I was curious what you all thought about it being applied to WS and this genre in general.

It could be something simple like only used for player house interaction &/or customizations or something more involved like control a little science droid and play as an actual grp member that could mark enemies and nodes and stuff.

Why not? As long as it does not give you any additional "power" over those who don't like to play on their phones.

Well. i'd like an APP as WoW has. Armory. mobile guild chat. maybe an auction app. just minor "on-the-go" help and fun functions. Nothing gamebreaking or gamechanging. Nothing that i cant use unless i have an app. As in some of those games you listed. For example.

Gta V. Can you train a dog without the mobile app? if not. then NO WAY in wildstar. i dont want to feel forced to use more than the money i payed FOR the game IN the game to get all i can in the game.

This is exactly a problem I have with the whole App thing because the answer is NO you cannot train your dog without the app. You can take him for walks and play fetch but that is it, you need the App to increase his happiness and to learn new tricks. I will say that how many tricks he knows or doesn't isn't at all game changing or breaking and is mostly an added xtra and also the App is free, but still.

I think adding this Apps would be a good idea, as long as they dont give any advantage as someone above said.

I would like an App for guild chat and AH. That would be awesome :D

Most of those examples you gave aren't just stand alone apps, their full on second screen integration into the game built on the backbone of Smart Glass and whatever Sony is going to call their second screen stuff. Microsoft and Sony are doing a lot of the heavy lifting to get those things off the ground, as it's a selling point on their next gen. consoles. The developers are just playing with the new toys MS and Sony gave them.

For Carbine to do something like that, it would have to be handled all on their end. It wouldn't be as hard for them to make an app with a little mini-game that gave you a bonus to something in-game. But an app that let you actually interact with the game world from your phone/tablet would be a much bigger task.

But for me, I think both options would be a terrible waste of resources. They've got a big enough job on their hands at Carbine just getting the game out, without adding the extra headache of a mobile app of some sort. If down the road a piece, they have a robust set of APIs on the web giving us access to info and they want to use that to make something like the WoW armory app, cool. If they want to take it even further at a later date, and make a Tamagotchi type app for some aspect of the game, cool. But those aren't things they need to worry about at launch. And I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on a full on mobile device, second screen experience, since they don't have MS or Sony doing the work of setting up a system for them build that kind of app in, so it would have to be all done in house and I can't imagine the cost/benefit for that being good enough to jump into the very fractured mobile/tablet market.

A nice app would be a quest / inventory overview.
So you can keep tabs on those without having to use your ingame screensize.

Don't want anything that's actually required though (E.g. : now finish mini-game on your tablet)

On the other hand. In gta V's story and joyplay. You do it solo. So it doesnt matter wether you can do more on an app or not. So i guess im fine when it comes to GTA. AGAIN. If it stays for offline its fine. But i wouldnt want an Online demanding game like wildstar to provide you with additional goodies if you play the game via something not everyone has. Its not fair. Catering to the 1% for the rich and poor is gamebreaking. And actually discriminating. Its like blocking males from picking female characters when creating a new character in the game? Never limit the player. :)

Oh yeah. Like wowhead - Rifthead - torhead. I'd love a Wildstar"head" that can be made FOR the cellphone. So you can plan your next adventure on your way home?. thats nice. Like. Sitting there on the bus eager to get home, and you can plan what item you need and get a farming spot before getting home. Like planning for dinner but for the game. Right? right? please. im right, right? :)

Guild chat app, so I can tell guildies if I'll be late from the raid due to traffic jam etc, without sharing my phone number with guildies.

Would love to have an app that is similar to Blizzard's. Help you stay in touch with your guild (chat), check the armory, link up with the site for news, updates, modify your account settings.
But it shouldn't provide a gaming advantage.

As someone who doesn't have a smartphone or tablet and doesn't really want either, I don't mind if there is an app to help people who have those devices stay connected to the game. How ever if not having access to the app can negatively effect you I'de have to vote no on it.

I hate this hipster app fad. If there is an app, it better not be more than checking the armory, changing account settings, and maybe tweaking guild features.

Simply put. An app of any kind would require development time they could be using to add more content and polish what they have. I like the idea of an app, It's not a bad idea but maybe in between patches after release.

If the app costs money, I won't get it no matter how great it will be. If it's free I'll get it no matter how useless.
