Both classes really interest me. But so far I think I am going the Esper route. I love burst damage in mmos(especially PvP) so I think the Esper might be a better fit for me.

Between he range Casters I like Espers better. I would rather Nuke if I am playing a ranged class and Espers seem at least aesthetically better in that regard.

I do wish I could change the color of their attack spells. Hate blue. Don't see how changing the color ruins the class identity. How are people going to confuse blades, a Phoenix, and little monsters for any other classes abilities?

Check out the Spellslinger livestream this saturday so you can get a better feel of the class mechanics to help decide. It will give you a better understanding of their playstyle compared to teh devspeak.

    They're really similar.

I want to say the Esper is the jack of all trades caster while the SpellSlinger is most mobile, single target focused and longer ranged

While the spellsinger seems like a mobile class, that's ability based. When I watch the drop I see a guy who has to stand in place with cast time. Then, cool movement get out of the way things. I don't like long cast times anyways but imagine this: a tank moves out of the way of a telegraph and oops, your long cast time mega nuke whiffs. Not my style.

Yes, because you can't rotate your telegraphs............

And tell me how many of the around 50 spells have you currently seen? Now...how many of them are ''stand still to shoot'' and how many can be cast while walking?

Mayby in the beginning you'll get most of the ''stand still and shoot'' skills....doesn't mean you won't get those move spells later on ;)

    My main point:
Please look past that ''love/hate on first sight'' there is more to a class then they show us!

If you look for something that isn't there, you might still find it.

I prefer sustained dps over bursty or build-up. Whiffing a nuke in this new system seems more likely and that's dps lost. Maybe there will be a slight reward for the new risk but it was never my style in the first place. Maybe you are so leet/hardcore/cool/awesome/stupendous and you'll never miss, congratulations.

I have faith that one can put together a viable mobile, sustained-DPS spellslinger build.

Im guessing you are talking about pvp right, because missing skills in pve is not a common thing.

There is no such thing as sustained dps in pvp. PvP is burst dmg, unless carbine is reinventing stuff. Since mmos exist, pvp is about short duration bursts not sustained dps. You kinda confuses me when you say you prefer Sustained dps and the subject is not PvE.

And in games with this "free action" stuff, bursty classes becomes even more fun, since you gotta improve and be good to not "miss" your big shots. In FPS games i can say its akin to sniper vs assault rifles.

Can someone explain to me why it's called ESPer and not Esper all throughout this thread? Thank you:)
