NOTE: *This is not a flame thread it's constructive* Hey there this is my first forum. This game is looking expectational, however I'm a bit concerned about the actual name "Wild Star". I know it's not a big deal but it is something that is kind of bugging me and here's why:

    1) It doesn't really have a good flow to it
    2) It's not something I'd be particularity comfortable about mentioning "Hey guys i play wild star" it doesn't sound "cool" enough
    3) It sounds too generic and unoriginal
    4) It maybe sounds too "childish"

I understand that devs are pretty active on the forums and listen to the community so I'm going to make a suggestion. Change the name into something more cool and sweet sounding, maybe something that has a cool word to do with SCI-FI like "galactic" or maybe just "NEXUS" named after the actual planet, short an snappy. Or even better just name it something like "Star Ops" Why?

    1) Sounds cooler
    2) Short an sweet
    3) Matches the actual game of doing different missions and operations etc in a science fiction universe
    4) Very memorable
    5) It's more of a tweak from the original name and people will still recognize the game by hearing the name

It's not too late to change the name, the game is in a pretty early and I think this name just overall suits better and IS better. Thank you for your time

At first I thought it sounded a bit like a single-player game's name. It lacked something a lot of MMO names had and that is a reference to time or place such as "World of Warcraft", "Age of Conan", "Everquest", "City of Heroes", etc.

However, after a while it grows on you and now I like the name. It is short and easy to say and the "wild" in the name reflects Nexus well. I don't think a name change is needed at all.

But don't you think "Star Ops" just sounds cooler in general and has a better flow to it?

Personally, I love the name. But then, I've been a sci-fi fan my entire life. Real sci-fi. The kind that makes you pause and think. Not the garbage Hollywood produces.

"Wildstar" is perfect for the style and themes they've chosen. It resonates with the best of Greg Bear, Isaac Asimov, and Robert Heinlein.

Personally, no. This is all subjective. What one person likes another will not. I like the current name myself. Doesn't mean I am right, just that is my personal taste.

I like the current name, and you forget too that this is a game that combines elements of Sci-fi AND fantasy. There's giant robots and psychic blades and teleporting gun-slingers. It's got a wonderful peanut butter/chocolate blend of scifi/fantasy/western elements to it. This is a game about exploring in a weird frontier, kinda like the old wild west, where opportunity is rich and lawless brigands face off with space cowboys. "Space Ops" rings too much like a space marine FPS style game to me. It has none of the wonder of exploration to it that's at the heart of this game.

I enjoy the name so far. For some reason, the name reminds me a little bit of Cowboy Beebop mixed with Firefly. Judging from the videos so far, I would have to say that the name fits the style like a glove.

The title of the game itself is a draw in. For me, at least. Like others have said, the name fits perfectly with the theme of the game. A wild, unexplored planet being discovered and explored for the first time by Exiles from different planets, as well as an Imperialistic super-power being the Dominion.
In all honesty, and really just my opinion, if you're embarrassed to tell people you play WildStar, then you may have some bigger problems than just how cool the name is. It's just a game. If it has an embarrassing title to it, who cares? And if you enjoy the game, why would you care what other people think?

Personally, the name fits and was chosen for an obvious reason. Space Ops really doesn't have the same appeal. This is just my preference, of course.

I disagree. I think the name makes the game sound really cool. Like a space cowboy wild west with lasers kind of theme. And from what we've seen of the game, that's pretty much what it is. I just hope as the Exiles, we get to do a good old fashioned train robbery. :3

As Dominion you have to protect the train from the Exiles!

Now that's an interesting PvP scenario you've got there. ;D

On-topic: Like the others, I feel "WildStar" captures the feeling of this game perfectly, and this suggestion honestly makes me unsure you've even looked at the concept art and screenshots, watched the videos or listened to the music - Justice Doesn't Always Wear A Badge in particular. There's a very "space western" feel to everything, and something like "Space Ops" or "Galactic somethingorother" abandons that feeling entirely and is completely unsuited to the game.

Got the same feel out of "Space/Star Ops" myself, and FPS is pretty much the only genre I don't lay my hands on.

Wildstar has that quirky space western going, as everyone says, the name is purrfect for what we have seen so far.
