Yes, it is a possibility. I can't think of any other game with a str/wis class. Could be nice.
Kinda reminds me of the D&D Paladin drawing on the strength and wisdom though charisma was in there too
The whispers of a Rifle or Ranger class could make this difficult, but with a choice of DPS or major CC it could be considered separate roles.
With the information out there now, I'm leaning Esper with focus on healing to level with the masses at release. Of course, information about the Spellslinger healing capability or either of the classes that haven't been revealed could change my mind.
"Will work for BETA access............. and beer"
Like I said, the Mercenary in SWTOR dual-wielded pistols and could heal. And the primary free heal was a salvo of blaster bolts to the torso.
I guess as long as it's Equilibrium style shooting, I suppose I won't mind shooting someone to heal them.
I'm not worried that one class will be better healer than the other, I'm more intrested to see if their healing style will differ or if they will have more or less the same arsenal. Like Warriors are like soaker tanks and Stalkers are evasion I hope Spellingslinger to be burst healers and Esper to be more AoE, or something like that. Sure, this would make classes better in one situation, but that's what makes them a healing class and not just a healer.
This seems like a debate that should happen after the first beta. We need to actually see how each class performs when it comes to healing.
Yea, it's pretty much all just speculation at this point as to how each class will heal. I think if all goes well (class balancing etc) then we shouldn't have any need to worry.
I suspect that at the very most they will just have different play styles that can all be viable in dungeon or small group settings. Maybe in raid like situations though it's possible one might be a better raid healer, while the other is better for tank healing? Who knows.
I imagine it'll just come down to play style though with all three healing classes having a different feel to them. Not to mention making the group they are healing react differently, with how the telegraph system is going to end up working out. Cant wait to see how it plays out though.
Uh...Yeah, no. No Game has perfect balance in between DPS and Healing, that's kinda impossible.
I haven't got my fingers on any kind of demo yet, but I think that you can specialize pretty well with the LMA and the stats.
I've got something off topic but look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toNsSCsjqLg
At 30:38 to the end you can see the esper using a spider summoning spell several time !
Yep, I saw that the other day http://www.wildstar-central.com/ind...-a-minion-master-class.1162/page-2#post-33510, glad to have seen it.
Ah, i'm late x)
I'll be playing both there classes buuut... not as healers! xD Sorry.. am just not.. a healer.. I'm a killer.. yeh..
I didn't state the classes would be perfectly balanced, I stated they are all designed to be hybrids.
I want a perfectly balanced class though, otherwise the jumping puzzles will be a nightmare!
From what I've seen and heard about the LAS system I think it is very likely players will be able to have more than 2 specs. The ability system seems to be encouraging a bit of hybridisation and personal style. You can't have a system like that which works with an inflexible spec system, everyone just defaults to the cookie cutter because they don't have the freedom to explore.
I think you'll find that for solo, PVP and open world play that hybrid specs will be very effective. In dungeons and raids there will probably be more call for specialisation for the majority of players. But I can definitely see situations where in a 20m raid on a certain encounter the guild decides they don't need 5 healers and can make do with 4 and a hybrid to help up their DPS a little to meet a hard enrage. There may even be fights were multiple hybrids are brought because one phase is healing intensive and another is DPS intensive and you can't meet both checks with just pures.
Ideally the classes will all be relatively balanced in their respective roles.
I just hope that each class feels unique to heal with. Ive always liked having classes focused on non-direct heals. This like wards/shields, reactive heals, hots and whatever else the devs can think of. If all 3 healing classes just do the same heals with different names i would be seriously disappointed.
Not to go too far off topic, but evasion tanks NEVER work for high end raiding. I really hope they don't make stalkers based around evasion.
Hey, Ash. If you go through the Q&A from the patch leak, someone asked why they changed spellslinger abilities to mana and the reply from carbine was that: (part of the reply) even though they will be good healers they will run out of mana faster at healing spec than they would at dps spec. that might be the only down fall to spellslinger healing imo.
Edit: The exact reply can be found here> http://wildstar-central.com/index.p...s-to-the-patch-note-questions-collected.2483/
soooooo they changed the spell slinger from .. energy or wahtever to mana so that they would run out of mana faster? lol interesting but i kinda expected that. Thanks though im more hell bent now on the idea of a melee healer anyways. If it does happen to exsist.... Otherwise ill just have to wait and see whats available.
