I don't think anyone has mentioned the possibility of different classes having different amounts of slots. It's kind of one of the nice things you can do in a class system. If people want to play with a billion hot bars they could do a class for that.

Guys, i think there is a misunderstanding here...

I think EVERYONE here is in FAVOR of limited abilities AND NOT of free for all type. On the other hand though, the major concern here is that the limited abilities number should not be too low, like 9 (as seen on a video).... i said 20 would be nice, might be too many, ok... fair, make the numberless dunno 15 maybe... but the truth is always in the middle....

Adding some more abilities will not compromise the strategic element we all want in... in contrast will add some more strategy and most importantly some variation while combat.... and yeah like it or not, will be a bit more challenging...

I hope that most of you agree with the above, and devs will go towards that direction.

There is no need for giant ability bars.

GW2 combat and TSW combat. 10 abilities and 7 abilities feels better imo than WoW or Aion or other huge bar games.

If you consider 7-10, or 9 in this case tiny, then yes.

That's the way some people see 'em. A hotbar that stretches across my screen with 20 buttons on it [or the classic double stack of 12-button hotbars each] is huge in comparison to the 9 buttons we can see in recently released gameplay video.

Well guys for me it is really important each class to have some signature abilities, abilities that will actually define the class... lets say 5 abilities.... and the rest 10 can be selected from a pull....

I cant see that happening if the total amount is 10...

I'm more on the side of "limited"

My years in WoW I was always frustrated by the fact that I had to have a bar mod to make my buttons make sense. This was compounded by my complete refusal to get said bar mods. *Sigh* then again, I was a "successful" raider for 5 or so years, I'll survive.

Why everyone says limited and does not define a number?

I want limited aswell, my prob is that i dont want too limited... such as 9... i want more than that... 15 lets say... maybe 20...

Gw2 has the middle number, between 15-20 abilities usually.

But the number of abilities is irrelevant. If you took wow combat and limited it to 9 abilities, yes it would suck, but this game is designed with 9 abilities (or whatever) in mind, and combat and gameplay will change accordingly. WS will manifest depth and complexity differently in different places than wow, gw2 or another game.

If those 15-20 abilities are spread out like SWTOR and wow then no I would not like it

if its like the 20 abilities the ele in gw2 gets which means you still get a lower number of ability slots you are still have to decide what abilities to choose to best fit with your role or spec and it fits with fast action combat then that is cool.

however that type will not work for all classes. maybe the esper.

I would be happy with no more than could be keybound to my mouse using up to 3 modifiers. Which means the number of about 15 abilities/spells I used for healing in WoW back in wotlk :p

So lets hope someone writes a mod to add more bar space.

Correct me if I am wrong, but action set bars and barspace for other stuff, like mounts, clickies, food, etc. is two intirely different things, when it comes to a limited action set ui, right?

Actually, in the visible UI right now, there is a little + symbol to the left of the hotbar. I suspect that'll add another hotbar or two if space gets cramped for macros/abilities, etc.

Remember, so far we've not really seen anything past L6-10 content.

Very unlikely that will be possible. Throws off the way the game is balanced.

You have a pool of abilities to choose from. You select 9. That is how the game is balanced. if some people have more abilities they have an advantage and throw off the intended balance.

Seriously, go play TSW. It's not a bad system.

At that level there isn't much other than the first 5-6 abilities to add to the action set bars.
