    are a lot of fun

this video is about buggy consumables in WvW but the idea of a stealth class knocking people of ledges is a lot of fun.

I love knockbacks in any class but if a stalker has a few good ones I think I will make on.

I hope you can knock people off a warplot. Not just the building but the battles are fought between two floating islands and a player can fall (or get knocked off ) one.

The option to make a tanky CC specialist stalker instead of a glass cannon damage build would be great.

I find that video HILARIOUS! It's also a perfect example of how players are always going to find ways to sort of take advantage of mechanics in a way you never expected.

However, I am curious as to how a Stalker having a knockback ability ALWAYS on their bar would be seen. I think it might be hilarious for the Stalker, but not so much very fun for every single person the Stalker stealths up to and uses it on. ;)

When designing this kind of stuff, you always need to balance it so it's fun for everyone. That's why they are using the idea to focus on "break out" CC.

I do wonder though just how knockback will work in the game, and what classes will get it. :)

    THIS IS NEXUS!

I'd love to have knockbacks, but on more than one class though.

Oh man... I hated knockbacks in Hutt ball... I would stealth up to one of those damn Snipers and I couldn't kill him while he was CCed so he would just knock me off... and I'd have to run away like a little girl

I just had an idea that could make knockbacks fun for those knockbacked.

When you knock someone back, they have a limited time to hit a button that makes them lash out a zip line/grappling hook to spring BACK to you.

If they aren't paying attention and aren't fast enough, sure they knocked back far or knocked off that cliff. However, if they hit that key at either right time quickly, or if they hit the key enough times as they are falling/being knocked back, they can SPRING back to your location with a grappling maneuver.

This would mean you still get the benefit of using the crowd control because it takes them out of the situation for the time they are knocked back normally, but people can still feel like they have a chance to partially recover from it.

yeah of course I was thinking the stalker because it had stealth so more opurtinities for trolling I mean strategic play with knockbacks :p

Swtor had a few class imbalances. The stun locking self-healing operator was the worst one in my opinion.

That could be an idea though I still think that you can avoid them by dodging out of it.
The kind of system you are thinking of is too forgiving to the people who are caught with the knockback. I think they either learn better positioning or the other team or player got that the better of them so fair play to them and the victim will learn for next time.
I think knockbacks should be more AOE or cone shaped.

Spring back at them? Why not lash out a zip line/grappling hook and take the one who pushed you back with you? Makes an awesome sight when you try to push someone of the cliff and you end up dead aswell :p

I clearly imagine the Esper shouting "Fly you fools!" while falling with the guy he threw off a cliff.

This is a delicious idea. I would throw so many people off edges. I used to do it as a shammy/priest in WoW. Nothing was better than MCing a guy off lumbermill.

i dont like knockbacks that knock people off of walls or into lava despite the fact that I was once completely addicted to T2 Warhammer maps with my swordmaster. it's a cheap mechanic. addictively fun, but cheap.

Haha, I was just about to post about the T2 warhammer lava map ;), you beat me to it! I was an Engineer, though  ! It really wasn't hard to just angle yourself position-wise to avoid being knocked-back into lava by enemies, but man... 99.9% of people couldn't manage it. Pre-kiting and positioning are tough apparently? :p

I loved that map. And the worst was when you got stuck on some pillar out in the middle of the lava. You couldn't move or you would fall in, just waiting for some Wizard to nail you with a huge fireball... ><

First of all: The vid's hilarious :D

Then: they talked alot about how you can specialize - A stalker could be a utility beast with stealth or a burst char or a DPS monster - Choice is up to you, which I really approve of

Some knockbacks on a stealth class would be great.
