I know they said two will be for Granok, but where did they say it for Mechari?
Hmm, I'm guessing the same thing, but at least 1
Hrm... gotta say, I'm really unhappy with their decision to lock out races from classes. I'm sure we'll get used to it, and it's always easy to write in lore to justify it.. but I feel post WoW and other MMO's this is just an old tradition that needs to be put to bed. : /
well, can you really see the Granok as being stealthy? or the Aurins as being big bad warriors? it doesn't really make too much sense...
ArenaNet didn't seem to care. LOL
But it would appear lore is very important to Carbine, heck, even having a Path dedicated to the research of it.
At least the Aurin can be Stalkers. They can be tanky too!
Sure, why not? If Mechari, big metallic guys can, why wouldn't the Granok be able too? And Everyone can pick up a sword and fight, nothing special about that.
I am one of those players that love playing huge stealthy characters and tiny warriors. It's pleasing to me to watch a TaruTaru or an Asura compensate for their size to deal a heavy punch to their enemy's jaw. I also enjoy watching my towering Norn handle her daggers like delicate silk while dodging from enemy attacks.
I was raised with stories that anything is possible so long as you have the imagination for it, and let me tell you... my imagination is a booming with possibilities of tiny soldiers and giant thieves! The best way to beat your enemy is to make them underestimate you first
(Not to mention... I'm playing beside dragon people, bunny cat girls, and psychokinetic flying swords... I kinda threw that thing called 'realism' out of the window in exchange for fun fantasy lol) XD
You got to look at concepts as well. Warriors are defined by the "Strength" attribute. Carbine doesn't look at the Aurin as "strong" but as swift and enchanting, which is why Stalker, Spellslinger, and Esper works for them.
Stalker also requires Dexterity, and the Granok have been defined as "not so wise". They are not cunning and clairvoyant, which would also mean Spellslinger and Esper couldn't possibly work either.
As far as the Mechari, they are robots. Only reason they can't be Espers is because it requires psychic ability.
I know some people are bummed out about it, but I personally do not blame Carbine for going with a concept and lore.
the Aurin not being warriors could have nothing to do with them being smaller than everyone else. it most likely has to do with their description as lovers of nature, and not wanting to do the heavy fighting of a warrior. they were a peaceful race, they didn't NEED to develop warriors.
The Aurin is basically your Elf class. They usually can't be Warriors, but can be thieves and assassins.
Going back to my predicting 10 classes bit (I still think they'll get there with expansion classes) every class is based off of 2 stats. Thus far we have:
Str/Tech- Soldier (DPS/Tank)
Dex/Tech- Stalker (DPS/Tank)
Dex/Wisdom- Spellslinger (DPS/Heals)
Magic/Wisdom- Esper (DPS/Heals)
Of the remaining 6 combinations what 2 do you think will be chosen?
Personally I think there will be 1 more ranged and 1 more melee. We also have 2 Tech, 2 Dex, 2 Wisdom, 1 Str, 1 Magic. There are no remaining combinations where all stats are represented evenly. Also, it seems tech is tank and wisdom is heals. Since it is stated that all classes can DPS, I think Tech/Wisdom is out. Furthermore with the current trend, every class has 2 potential roles and tank/heals is split evenly. Given these assumptions:
I predict Str/Wisdom and Tech/Magic
This would give: 3 melee, 3 Ranged, 3 Heals, 3 Tanks, 6 DPS, 2 Str, 2 Dex, 2 Magic, 3 Tech, 3 Wisdom.
So, even distribution of Melee/Ranged. Even distribution of Tank and Heals. Even distribution of all 3 DPS types.
As for playstyle:
Str/Wisdom: Think Paladin but probably wouldn't be called Paladin. Think more Guardian from GW2. I expect either a mace/shield type combo for weapons or a 2 handed Hammer.
(Male Auren Str/Wis Unrevealed Class fighting a mob????:
Tech/Magic: I think this will be a pet class and possibly an absorb shield type of tank.
I hope the last two are healer/tank. Not only is it the class I gravitate to in every RPG, but it is the combination yet to be covered by the other classes.
It will likely be Tech/Wisdom and Strength/Wisdom.
I agree entirely. This is a solid post.
To summarize what you said:
1. We know that they want everyone capable of a DPS role.
2. More over, we know they want every class to fulfill multiple roles.
So lets break it down:
Str/Dex <- Out on account of being a double DPS
Str/Wisdom <- Possible
Str/Magic <- Out on account of being a double dps
Tech/Wisdom <- Out on account of having no dps
Tech/Magic <- Possible
Dex/Magic <- Out on account of being a double dps
If I could give you a delicious baked treat, I most definitely would.
To give a bit more sweet info (provided by Kataryna)
Granok will be getting both unrevealed.
Could very well be a melee healer.
And the Rifle Wielding Granoks we've been seeing.
If you keep it up, everyone here will call you the unofficial WildStar Wiki...
I may be misunderstanding your question but if you're asking will there be one for each faction or if they will both be able to use either faction, then going of the page the last two are faction only classes. One for exile, one for Dominion.
If you view page source on the webpage in question it says the following. This is of course prosuming the web designer didn't just copy paste code.
class="cell class-race-box box-large coming" style="background-image:url(/media/uploads/images/overview-images/race-exile-comingsoon.jpg);"><h2>Coming Soon...</h2></div><div class="cell class-race-box box-large coming" style="background-image:url(/media/uploads/images/overview-images/race-dominion-comingsoon.jpg);"><h2>Coming Soon...</h2></div></div>
You definitely have a knack for this.
Basically, its been surmised that Str/Wisdom and Tech/Magic are the most likely candidates for the last two classes.
What does that mean?
But Protostar will make you something for it!
It's the rifle class (maybe idk)
Wildstar confirmed on twitta that they get both unrevealed classes
People thought it was the spellslingers who had the rifles but it was proven wrong because granoks can't be that class
I'm sure it'll be a priest-like class or minion controlled one
Why would they need tanks? They already have warrior and stalker
about 10 min or so in Mike say's the 4th dominion race is a crazy scientists race, which leads me to believe an Engineer class!
Rifle class with net snares as dps/ranged tank.
Beastlord/bard combo class using tech guitar, rat fiddler flute and temp animal charms to invigorate and distract. dps/heals/support.
I'll take both.
