That is a fairly old image, but yes it is an engineer.
Engineer Class Confirmed as Tank:
During the Spellslinger Live broadcast on twitch TV this Saturday Hugh Shelton mentioned "main tanks" and referenced the engineer class. This statement is made at 41:25. http://www.twitch.tv/wildstar/c/3289155
We can also see a Medic NPC
I really hope engineers get the rifle/shotgun, that would make engineer my main for sure.
Are people worried about a melee healing class? I personally feel like they'd be at a pretty big disadvantage in a lot of situations, but I can't deny the fun factor of being on the front lines throwing out heals. This is just speculation of course, as we don't know any specifics when it comes to abilities. It's pretty safe to say that medic is going to be melee, and I do remember in one of the livestreams they were teasing us, saying that one of the redacted classes specializes in damaging healing abilities, like the spellslingers dual fire.
That was mostly just ramblings, I'm mostly hoping a high end raider type will put my fears to rest XD
I have speculation from the streams and other info gathered that the "medic"/healer/dps is going to be short to medium range and do damage and healing together. I feel it will be a great support character, but we will see.
And the "Engineer"/tank/dps is going to be medium to long range and have gadgets and other sorts of things to kite/mitigate/misdirect and avoid damage from range.
Also, going back through the videos, like someone stated earlier you can actually see both classes in the AIMING video.
Rumor had the Medic being melee, with some short/med range abilities.
In the Spellslinger livestream at the 22min point the Devs encounter a NPC Medic who spends all it’s time trying to get into melee range.
Am I crazy, or does anyone else think this is misdirection?
I mean, the NPC near the medic is called "Defender", and no one is suggesting that is a playable class....
"Engineer" : Rifle/shotgun main weapon, support turrets and/or droids sorta like STO Engineer.
"Medic": played sorta like a monk/pugilist from FF14 with cestus, but they have electical charges for damage ... think of defibrilators.
Here's a recap of how the livestream went.
I don't get it.
They're facial expressions after the Engineer slip-up.
