I thought I ended this thread but I guess not. I'll try again.

As I told you all before, just wait until I play the game. If I can give the game a 7 out of 10 or greater and/or play for over a month and still want to play and progress more, then Wildstar is successful. If not, then Wildstar is bad and you all should feel bad.

I don't think it will flop. It is probably way too early to tell

If they stick to their original premise of catering to raiders and the 1% and not appeasing casuals, then they will likely succeed just as WoW did during vanilla and tbc.

If they go for the WoW:Cata/MoP approach of giving casuals everything, many will play for 6 months then the game will go the way of TOR.

I wouldn't order this game if it appeased to the masses. Give us back Vanilla WoW.

Flop is not a very good word to use. When people talk about an MMO flopping it always goes like this: "We only have 8 million subs. We didn't match WoW's record 12 mill so we are complete failures."

Gaffney stated a while ago that they were looking for 2-3 mil in order to be profitable. NCSoft has made a great deal of MMOs, some competing with each other. They full well know that each game draws a different crowd. At launch there probably will be a few mil more than a year later. Therefore, they've budgeted accordingly because they're not chasing the illusive AAA crowd.

    TL; DR
By hiring experts in the field, they can make a 'AAA' game with a 'AA' budget and 'A' expectations. So long as the core audience sticks around it's impossible "to flop."

They will have issues if they over promise and under deliver.

Why the MMO world has not learned to do it the other way is sad.
I think the reason is Marketing Things. The folks that get paid to hype a product always go over the top, promise to the edge of the law, and then a game sells 2 Million Plus copies week one, and has 20k playing month 3.

I do hope they make a fun game and push some bounds at the same time.
They have gotten me to look at a MMO again, and that is not easy.

I also really hope the game is not Super Easy, the way most MMOs have gone, but that remains to be seen.
