I'm probably gonna play as a female, because it feels wierd for me to do otherwise. But I'm not enterily sure, I might choose to have a male character also as there are some really awsome looking.

I usually play a male char or the ugly/unpopular female race (like dwarf and tauren female in WoW).

I'm male and play predominantly female characters. I like the aesthetics. I hate bulky male characters in every. single. game. It's so tiring to see males that look like body builders. It's incredibly unrealistic. Normal combat specialists never did, or will, look like that. Of course, females are also over-done quite a bit too - huge boobs, an exaggerated hourglass frame, etc. I prefer more 'normal'/lithe body types.

On the other hand, there are some strong incentives to playing a female character:

You're treated better by randoms who don't know your real sex. Especially with a female-sounding name.

You're given more leeway if you act in an 'irate' manner, such as yelling at people in a dungeon, than if you were playing as a male.

People occasionally give you free stuff, or pass on loot.

And since I'm bisexual, not much bothers me in that department.

Hmmm being bi myself I take a different view on it. I will play male but will be hsppiest playing male if i can have a body type that matches me irl. I tend to play one main and necer have the time to play altz. This tend to make me feel that my char is an extension of self rather than a projection of anything else. To that end Im happiest if even despite the vines metal of rock face a character is visibly similar to my body and face type in some way. That means male and tall/thin

I'll be playing as female given that it simply matches my gender. This being because I honestly to a degree that I find it very hard to connect to a "male" character. And in all honestly I just find the aesthetic of female character to be more pleasing for the most part when it comes to getting the right armors, outfits, etc for the most part.

That is not to say I won't try a male character that catches my attention. I just don't see it happening off the bat.

Personally I am male but will do either. I'm often a bit female minded, and besides enjoying looking at female characters, I also don't really have much trouble identifying with them either.
Though if there are appealing male choices, I'll certainly go for that. The mechari for instance definitely lend themselves for male chars - if they even have females, I don't actually know off the top of my head. Aurin and draken however just seem to fit best as females. It also depends somewhat on the customization options I suppose, but all in all, I do enjoy playing as both genders.

I'll play as male, although I get why people make chick characters. It's really no big deal.

But a lot of people like the warrior chick vibe. Tiny little chick who can destroy people is pretty awesome.
some who make female characters because they generally are slim sleek and agile fitting the role of a certain class they like.
Some do not like the way male characters look in some games, this is true a lot of games have horrible blocky male characters that look horrible in armor/gear while the females look good.

I like to play male characters because thats my preference to play, I just like when all the males don't have to look like the Hulk (even though Hulk is awesome!!!) when playing an MMORPG I like to portray my style which funny to say is more like myself. I like Slim muscular, long torso (short torso character models with shirts tucked in look odd too me).

I would like a less stocky/block look. A thinner muscular male that fits agile classes(in my opinion) and still looks badass.(I know there are stocky agile characters out there :p)
Tired of making a 230lbs 6'0 ninja... rather have a 170lbs 6'0 ninja ( just example ) not all males are super heavyweight lifters but are still kickass characters....

Cloud from FF7 is skinny/muscular wielding a giant buster sword as well as Sephiroth. both these characters are well known for their combat abilities and awesomeness and neither of them are stocky. Although that is a console RPG I know (including myself) a lot of people who would love to be like that in games they play online.

In games where there are height/weight sliders, I have seen more of my friends and other people I know make male characters when they normally make females due to the "feel of the character" as they say, because they are able to take their male characters away from the "big block pile of armor running around" and actually make the male characters look cooler for them.

So I will play male in WildStar, I have seen the video's and im glad the not all the males are big blocks of armor, Yet I still hope for height weight sliders :p

6 classes ill play 3 male and 3 female :3 symtry ftw! For me certain races just suit female and males better for example aurin cant really picture the male version or the granok ugh dont really want a female version of that >.<

yes the females are nice to look at :3 actually thats kinda the only reason apart from what race suits what gender better.

    Orc= Male, bloodelf = Female
